Phillipino Relief Fundraiser

“Our corporate philosophy compels us to respond when needs are apparent either at home or abroad.  Our latest fund raiser for the Philippine community raised $7500 that was matched by the federal government.  Many of our staff have families who were impacted by the typhoon that hit the Philippines and this donation through the Canadian Red Cross  was very much appreciated.

Thank you to Rock 97.7 and Canadian Freightways, who along with our staff were on site in the bitter cold, on the radio and helping to accept the over 70,000 containers that were donated by the Grande Prairie and area residents.”

Community Benefits from Recycling

Brenda Smith was featured in the Daily Herald Tribune November 21, 2013 about the benefits in the community from recycling your beverage containers.

Recycle Plus business services director Brenda Smith has a simple message for the Grande Prairie public: If you’re going to buy bottled water, recycle the containers.

Smith brought her concerns forward after a recent Daily Herald-Tribune article said most empty bottles end up in a landfill rather than at a collection depot.

“I think what prompted the response simply was there are so many good things that are happening because of the recycling of beverage containers,” Smith explained.

“When I saw the article on the water bottle, I thought, ‘There’s another side of this.’”  To Read More on this article visit The Daily Hearld Tribune
